We are super excited to announce that our summer opening hours will be daily effective June 3rd!
For those of you who have followed L'Escalier's journey over the past few years and have loved what Karen and John, don't worry; we will be providing the same high quality of food, locally sourced and excellently prepared with John remaining at the heart of the kitchen and Karen will be buzzing around making sure everyone has a wonderful time!
However, building on the reputation of serving great food in a relaxed atmosphere, we're going to be introducing the concept of a tapas restaurant and wine bar to Verteillac and introducing a few more new faces.
Renovations of both the restaurant and menu are well underway!
On the menu we'll be serving small plates of heaven, such as stuffed courgette flowers, open ravioli of asparagus and pea, trout salad, moules et frites, risotto, cheese and charcuterie boards. From the grill, the old favourites like filet de boeuf will remain, but we'll be adding quail, burgers, ribs and more!
On the renovations we hope you'll be both surprised an impressed with the new bar and decor. We're busy creating an upstairs lounge area which will be know as 'Huw's Hideaway' - a place you can relax throughout the day perhaps taking a coffee and a cake with a good book. You can also reserve Huw's Hideaway for your own private event be that book club, hobby club, afternoon tea, or simply a catch up with friends free of charge. In the evening you'll have some wonderful cheese and a glass of wine away from it all, or simply after your meal relax in the comfy chairs and help yourself from the honesty bar.
Weekends at L'escalier we will be offering Oysters & Muscadet on a Saturday (direct from the Market) along with a selection of brunch options such as a Bloody Mary's and Shaskshuka (Eggs in Purgatory). We will alternate Sundays between an informal brunch and a more formal Sunday Lunch and for those of you who have experienced that, you know its a winner! Advanced bookings for those Sundays are essential.

Our mission is to work with our other proprietors and bring life into Verteillac and we can't do that without you!
